Press Release: Engage Insurance Group Participates in Rep. Sharice Davids' Johnson County Small Business Roundtable

Overland Park, February 18th, 2026 - Engage Insurance Group had the honor of participating in Representative Sharice Davids' Johnson County Small Business Roundtable, held at Johnson County Community College. The discussion brought together small business owners and economic development leaders from across the region to address the most pressing challenges facing Kansas entrepreneurs.

We weren't discussing abstract problems; we were feeding real ground-level data into decisions that will be made in the next congressional session.”

The conversation covered a wide range of critical topics, including the continued pressure of tariff policy on small businesses and international trade, domestic manufacturing and supply chain resilience, workforce challenges facing construction, manufacturing, and hospitality sectors, immigration reform as a near-term solution to labor shortages, the rising cost of healthcare, particularly for businesses with 50 or more employees, and the emerging questions around AI, data privacy, and ownership.

The roundtable also highlighted the significant impact of the Kansas Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which served 1,399 clients in 2023, contributing to $94 million in annual sales and 4,714 jobs created statewide.

One theme was consistent throughout the discussion: small businesses still have bipartisan support in Congress, and that matters. We look forward to continuing the conversation with Representative Davids' office in the near future on several of the topics raised, and we will continue to advocate alongside organizations like Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses for policies that support Kansas entrepreneurs.
